Welcome to Elderfield — Beginner's Tips
Luca's first-month list — mall early, Warp, church, gifts, farm quirks, bath vs sleep.
Last updated: September 13, 2026
Quick Answer
Explore day one. Mall = first dungeon, not late game. Warp at Ultra Video. Church Sundays. 2 gifts/NPC/week. Food in fridge. Bath heals, sleep does not.
Beginner's Tips
I thought Welcome to Elderfield was a cozy farm game. Wrong. Week one already has missable skills, weekly god worship, and a first dungeon half the playerbase skips because it looks like endgame.
This page = what I do in my first in-game month so I don't miss stuff. Story order lives in the main walkthrough. Mall and church done? Skip to the section you still need.
Core rule: almost nothing is gated at start. Explore from hour one. Farm can wait.
Explore everything
Sewers, mall, Greystone, farm, fishing — all reachable early. No tiny starter zone.
- Every building, every door
- Fight too hard? Leave, level, return
- Click everything — lots of ground loot looks like decoration (foraging route)
Tip: Hard enemy = come back later. Not "never go here."
Mall = first dungeon
Game sends you there. Easy to ignore. Tell: NPC side quests all point to mall.
- Main story needs it
- Not overleveled — one-hit kills happen
- Every NPC, every corner
Warp — don't miss
Ultra Video, Mall F1. Shopper on the far right by the SALE sign → free Warp.

NPC Shopper
Teleports home from almost anywhere (~5 min walk from house). Zero MP cost. I get this before any farm grind.
Mall mines — copper + iron ASAP. Need both for tools (cooking and crafting). Extra gold → mall tomes; Lesser Mending first.
Molly — on the way to farm
Path to Hans Farm: small mine + Molly's workshop. Quest gives starter pickaxe.

NPC Molly
Skip = fine, no hard block. I stop anyway — pickaxe + quest order. Furnace after copper: Molly on hub.
Church + god doors
Doors with god symbols need you to follow that god. Not late-game.
Church, every Sunday — pick one old god for the week.

Father Desmond
- One god per week — switch next Sunday
- Weekly perks + opens that god's doors (loot inside)
- Where to go: god rooms
Library early — starts farm tower quest. Runs in background forever. Stone Tower.
Gifts — 2 per NPC per week
First month I gave zero gifts. Didn't know what to give. Mistake.
- Max 2 gifts per character per week
- Miss a week = lost for that week
- Give random stuff if needed — social tab logs likes and hates
Tip: Sunflower seeds from harvest — NPCs hate them.
TV events — optional
Daily random TV event: blood trail, phone number, treasure, dog, etc.
Most = overleveled fights, bad loot. Events repeat — no rush. Big moon stuff: moon events.
Summer: standing outside in sun = sun damage.
Farm quirks
Seasons: Rebirth, Harvest, Witch, Death — 28 days each. Most crops not season-locked (some exceptions).
| Quirk | What to know |
|---|---|
| Special plots | Flowers + fruit trees only — normal seeds won't work |
| Farm respawns | Wood/stone come back fast — good with Warp + bath loop |
| Scarecrow | Before valuable seeds — birds target expensive crops. ~5g at seed shop |
| Plant/water | Stand still — game auto-picks next tile in range |
| Rain | Harvest + replant same tile same day = new plant not watered |
Traveling merchant
Weekends only. Pays more than town shops. Each week wants 2 random crops for bonus price. Stockpile all week, sell the wanted crops to them.
Sleep, save, heal
- Sleep optional — debuffs stack if you skip nights (Heavy Eyelids = less EXP)
- Save from bed without sleeping
- Shops don't close — play day or night
- Sleep does not heal — same HP or worse; attacks in sleep possible; low HP = risky
Heal = bath (respawns monsters). Or cook/eat. Bath also triggers weekly resource reset (same after death). Cleared mines don't refill daily — weekly cycle.
Warning: Bath wipes shrine buffs. See first night on hub.
Storage
- Bag = limited — pouches from shops/drops; free Spare Bag in town
- Chest = unlimited; crafting pulls from chest
- Fridge = food for cooking only — food in chest won't show in recipes. Bugs, eyeballs, salt too if craft menu can't find them
Combat + crafting tricks
- Heavy weapon raises heal MP cost — swap weapon off, heal, swap back
- Smelter/crafting timer shows only when you start — write it down, no countdown after
Save MP for boss fights.
First month — my order

| 4 | Church Sunday | God perks + doors |
| 5 | 2 gifts/NPC/week | Missable progress |
| 6 | Scarecrow | Protect seeds |
| 7 | Food in fridge | Cooking works |
| 8 | Bath to heal; sleep before day 2 moonrise | Curses |
